“The Belly Dancer with the Dragonfly Tattoo” - 16” x 30” - Mosaic Torso

As I worked on this mosaic torso, it slowly transformed into a belly dancer. It is a homage to my Syrian ancestry, but even more than that it is an affirmation of the sensuality that lives in all of us at every age. Growing up and attending community weddings, I always appreciated that even the “elders” got up to belly dance to Arabic music. This piece still needs to be grouted which I will do in the spring.
